If you are a FoLC, you may find that living in the real world and communicating with others can be a difficult thing. You may have noticed that you function quite differently from others. Do not be alarmed. There is a simple explanation: You are not the same as everyone else! You look like them, you sound like them, you dress like them, and you can manage to pass as one of them, but you are NOT one of them. You are a FoLC, a species that has continued to evolve completely separately from the rest of the homo sapians.
This evolution began around three years ago when advertisements for a new series called "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" began to show up on TV, sides of buses, and in magazines. At the moment that the normal human was exposed to this, they began to change. They began anxiously awaiting the coming of this show. They were interested in it, and kept their eyes open for more advertisements and information. When they would find one of such, their heart would give a little flutter in excitement. They could not help but notice how very handsome Dean Cain was or how beautiful Teri Hatcher was.
Finally, the pilot arrived. The human (whom we will still call human at this point even though they have begun their evolution) sat spellbound through the entire show. They laughed at the witty exchanges between the characters and they marveled at the well written and well directed dialogue and scenes. By the end of the show, they felt lightheaded and giddy thinking about how wonderful it was. They immediately began to wait for the next episode. Over the next few weeks they became aware that watching L&C had become the highlight of their week. They thought about it often and it would pop into their head at unexpected times. At this point, they are no longer just humans, they are Human FoLCs. L&C is now a part of them.
Over the next few months, the involvement increased. They thought about the show constantly and spoke about it to their friends incessantly. Unfortuanately, their friends did not understand what was happening. All they knew was that their dear friend whom they thought they knew so well, was taken over by some strange force. All they could talk about was a tv show, and the actors who starred in it. In any situation, they would begin to spout quotes and erupt into giggles thinking about past episodes. In class/work, they would jot down poems about L&C. Before long, some of them were writing full fledged stories or scripts that they proudly informed all their worried love ones was called fanfic. This, of course, they had learned from all the other obsessed people on the Internet. They spent massive amounts of time on the computer chatting to people just like them, and befriending pretty much anyone who liked L&C. They were no longer at all human. The final stage of evolution had taken place. They were now what is known as a FoLC. A Fan of Lois & Clark. That is their entire being. That IS what they are.
This article should clear up any confusion you may have had as to why you feel different than all the people you know that are non-FoLCs. How can you expect to have normal conversation or an interesting discussion with someone of another species? You can't! They simply do not appreciate the complexity of the Clark/Lois relationship. They simply can not accept a man flying around in tights. They simply can not understand why you sit at a computer for hours speaking of tight black suits, snorkles, waffy scenes, and such. Do not lose your patience with these ordinary folks. They can not help it. Perhaps one day, they will see the greatness of L&C, and they too will undergo the evolution of Man (or Woman) to FoLC.
