As an independent researcher, analyst and consultant, Dr.
Dr. Metcalf was formerly the Chief Learning Technologist at RWD Technologies. There he was responsible for the analysis, design and strategic alignment of RWD’s technology solutions for learning. He was responsible for high-level strategy and transformation engagements at well know companies such as 3Com, Fujitsu, Roche Diagnostics, Rolls-Royce, and FedEx Ground. Dr. Metcalf also led the development of several award-winning mobile learning innovations.

As a research faculty member, Dr. Metcalf is responsible for inspiring
innovation in the field of learning and performance. Dr. Metcalf brings partnerships
and existing research and development relationships to the world-class
Institute. Dr. Metcalf is currently developing contracts and grants to promote
the use of high-end corporate learning and simulation techniques in non-profit
and social entrepreneurship opportunities. Dr. Metcalf provides CLO advisory
services and develops new innovations for delivery of learning and knowledge solutions.
Simulation, mobilization, outsourcing, visualization systems, and operational
excellence are current research topics. Dr. Metcalf frequently presents at
industry and research events shaping business strategy and use of technology to
improve learning and human performance. Dr. Metcalf also mentors students and
entrepreneurs affiliated with the University and the award-winning
UCF/Technology Incubator.

As chief learning technologist, Dr. Metcalf was responsible for research,
strategy and analysis of learning and development activities. Industry analysis
and development of strategic partnerships are principal duties. Dr. Metcalf
defined information systems requirements, analysis, design, and implementation
specifications. Projects involved the combination of creative, instructional,
and technical disciplines to produce technology solutions for training and
knowledge management applications. He fulfilled operational management and
P&L responsibilities as Interim Director. He was responsible for high-level
strategy and transformation engagements at well-know companies such as 3Com,
Fujitsu, Roche Diagnostics, Rolls-Royce, and FedEx Ground. Dr. Metcalf led the
development of several award-winning mobile learning innovations. He also developed
new techniques and tools for innovative delivery of e-Learning in areas such
as: International delivery, knowledge management, collaboration, return on
investment strategies, mobile learning, WBT without plug-ins, and application
of advanced learning models online. Dr. Metcalf was the company’s
featured speaker at industry events shaping business strategy and use of
technology to improve learning and human performance.
